Mario VFX Video

This is a really well done video and a nice idea. The Mario animations could do with some more work but the tracking, lighting and effects are really good.

The Simpsons Pays Homage to Miyazaki’s Films

I love this sequence from the latest Simpsons episode, they pay homage to films such as Spirited Away and Howel’s Moving Castle so well. I need to re-watch through these brilliant films again =)

Here is the Kotaku article that linked me to this video.

Behind The Scenes: John Lewis Christmas Advert 2013

When you work in the animation/film/games industry you normally know how things are made when you watch them, so when I saw the John Lewis Christmas Advert 2013 for the first time I knew straight away that most of the set was a miniature model and the characters were animated in 2D over the top of that film footage. But I was wrong! It’s such an interesting technique to do the 2D animation and then have every frame printed out and then each one of those still frames was then stop-motion animated in physical form in the rest of the scene. The final outcome is amazing, so their interesting technique clearly worked!

Check out the advert and other Christmas adverts from John Lewis in another of my posts.
